Over the past six years, Company One's PlayLab has, through various iterations, supported and developed the work of over 45 playwrights. We are looking for writers whose work is not only ready for rigorous one-on-one development, but also for those who are committed to engaging in conversations about today’s political and social climate. This program aims to support writers as they navigate the professional theatre scene both locally and nationally.
Company One's Mission: https://companyone.org/about-us
Members of the Fellows cohort will be selected by application, with preference given to experienced writers who no longer think of themselves as "early career" — any age (18+), and any gender expression welcome. We seek Boston-area writers of diverse backgrounds who connect with C1's mission, and who may not have had access to the kinds of residencies or fellowships available to artists further along in their careers.
We are not able to accept applications from current college students, or from playwrights currently enrolled in graduate theatre programs. Writers must be able to attend 3 matinee performances of C1 productions as well as four (4) one-on-one meetings, with dates to be set after the selection process.
This program is free for participants.
