Operations & Algebraic Thinking Workshop
The Operations & Algebraic Thinking progression in the Common Core supports teachers in thinking about the properties of operations as they help children learn to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Why do different solution paths have the same result? What questions can we ask to help students make sense of and generalize mathematical structures? At this workshop, we will...

• Engage in math ourselves to develop our deep understanding of properties.

• Confer with children to understand their thinking about the properties of operations.

• Develop questions and routines which help students understand the properties of operations that allow humans to act on the quantities they have mapped on the world.
