The Petal Path will occur simultaneously across the province from 11-3 on Sunday September 16th, 2018. Participating farms will host tours on the hour, 1 hour or less in length. Each farm is responsible for its own signage on site and organization of their tours (CFW will provide a downloadable Petal Path sign for road marking). EFAO will administrate sign-ups and communications to people who have signed up. CFW will provide social media marketing support and suggested tour discussion topics. Each farm is encouraged to sell on-farm products as desired, such as bouquets, flower-based products, snacks, and drinks. Farmers are also required to take fees for cash payments and send on collected funds as a total e-transfer or check to EFAO.
Sign-ups will be $10 for EFAO members and $15 for non-members for a single tour, $20 and $30 for multiple farms toured. When signing up, people will be asked to select which farms they would like to visit, to help host farms anticipate tour attendee numbers and potential on-farm sales. It will be clearly articulated that this is a one day-event, that these farms are not usually open to the public, and pre-registration is required.
Farmers will be paid a hosting fee of $75-100, depending on number of signups. Tours can be canceled if minimum numbers are not meant. Every farm is encouraged to double check that they carry liability insurance for people coming on the tour.
