Welcome!

The Social Justice Training Institute is designed to provide knowledge and skills for:

1. Community organizations, professionals and future professionals working with people affected by incarceration or re-entry

2. Researchers utilizing participatory research methods for community learning and participation

3. Activists developing policy and advocacy for ending mass incarceration.


This Institute is designed for present and future professionals in fields including but not limited to education, health, law, social work, faith based organizations, counseling, and journalism. Graduate students, faculty, and members of community-based organizations are encouraged to attend. The Social Justice Training Institute will provide an environment of collective learning and development. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their current work, research interests, and projects to the institute to share with others and develop during the course of the two days. To give us a sense of what you wish to bring and hope to learn at the institute, please take the time to write a statement of interest answering the questions outlined below. Applications are due ASAP.

Tuition for the Social Justice Institute is $600. Please see the bottom of the application for more information.

Applicants applying in groups from a common institution or program, community-based organization (CBO), or research team are being given special consideration. Please indicate in your application if you are applying as part of a group. Every member of the group must apply individually. Please note individual applicants are also very welcome.
