Clarissa Hug Idaho Special Education Teacher of the Year
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the premiere association for special educators, works to improve the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. The Clarissa Hug Teacher of the Year Award recognizes a CEC member who currently provides direct services to students with exceptionalities. The Clarissa Hug Teacher of the Year is an outstanding member of the profession whose work exemplifies the best in special education teaching. His or her work reflects significant educational success for students, continued professional development, and the highest standards of educational quality.

Nominee Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be a CEC member in good standing currently and for at least the previous
3 years
• Must currently provide direct services to students with exceptionalities
• Must hold professional certification in the area in which the nominee provides
services.
• The work of the nominee must be consistent with CEC’s mission statement as
described in the first paragraph
Rules & Instructions for Nomination:
1. Nominees may be nominated by an individual (principal, CEC member, fellow teacher/colleague, student, parent, self), educational organization (school, parent group, etc.), or community group.
Three letters of recommendation from colleagues, supervisors, students, parents, or colleagues of the nominee’s innovation and skills of collaboration, leadership, and/or mentoring must be attached.

2. Three letters of recommendation from colleagues, supervisors, students, parents, or colleagues of the nominee’s innovation and skills of collaboration, leadership, and/or mentoring must be attached. Letters of Recommendation can be sent to Dr. Cyndi Cook at ccook@nsd131.org.

Form submission and letters of recommendation must be received by May 30, 2017


(The CEC Executive Board has the authority to give only one Clarissa Hug
Teacher of the Year Award or to deny granting the award in any given year.)
