K-12 Educator Workshop:Ofrenda and Dia de los Muertos Workshop for Teachers Saturday, Oct 3rd 1:30-3:30

Are you interested in having your class(s) make an ofrenda, but not sure where to start?
Día de Muertos is celebrated each year on November 1st and marks a time for people to honor those who have died by creating “ofrendas” with food, photographs, flowers, art objects, and items that hold significance to both the deceased loved one and those still living. The National Hispanic Cultural Center holds several events related to Día de Muertos including an exhibit of ofrendas on display for two weeks at the end of October, beginning of November. We invite teachers who attend this workshop to create ofrendas with their classroom students and then install the ofrendas here at the Center, October 16 – November 6, 2015 If you are interested in attending the Ofrenda Workshop (free of charge) please use this form to register. Questions? call or email Elena Baca, Educator, NHCC at elenad.baca@state.nm.us or (505) 246-2261 ext. 167
