Schedule Your "Introduction to University Writing Services" for English 1500, 1900, 1920, and 4000
Following tradition, University Writing Services (UWS) would like to continue to send writing consultants to all composition classes. They will lead a brief 25-minute presentation about the FREE services we offer to undergraduate students and how to schedule appointments at both our in-person and virtual writing centers. This is the result of a longstanding partnership created between the Student Success Center and the Writing Program housed in the Department of English.

The justification behind this informational visit is to encourage students to start writing early in the semester, to view writing as a communal as opposed to a solitary act, to be comfortable asking for assistance when needed, and to help them further develop a writerly persona (outside of class) by introducing them to new rhetorical strategies in a one-on-one setting so that overtime they will become self-directed learners. We hope that the writing skills these students acquire will also extend beyond the classroom and set the tone not only for the remainder of their academic careers at Saint Louis University, but in their respective fields and professions post-graduation.

UWS would like to invite instructors to submit their preferences about when it would be convenient to have a writing consultant stop by their class. Please fill out this form so that we can schedule your Introduction to UWS on the day and time that works best for you and your students.

The deadline for scheduling your Introduction to UWS is Wednesday, September 10th. You may request an extension by emailing writing@slu.edu. If we do not receive a response or hear back from you, we will proceed as normal and assign a writing consultant to visit your class.

Thank you! We look forward to meeting your students!
