Many Kristin students choose to join the local orienteering club (North West Orienteering) as a family and develop their skills during weekend events.
We enter the following school competitions.
North Zone Sprint SeriesNorth Island Secondary Schools ChampionshipsAuckland Secondary Schools Individual and Relay ChampionshipsNew Zealand Secondary Schools Championships, and NZSS Rogaine ChampionshipsYear 7&8 North Harbour Zone Day
This year we welcome Tegan Knightbridge who will be offering coaching and training to those students who wish to learn more about the reading of maps and competitive Orienterring. In addition students also are able to join he North West Club, for more information please click here: http://nwoc.aoa.org.nz/
Once you have registered your interest in Orienteering students will be invited to enter the above competitions and also training arrangements will be confirmed.
Many events see students that require transport using the school van. There will be occasions where parents will need to transport their own child or car-pooling also works well (e.g. the sprint series in Term One). Parents and family are also encouraged to attend events where possible as in the past our Orienteering Community has seen great support and families even joining the local Orienteering Club (Nor West) and competing together on weekends!
UNIFORMIt is preferred to compete in school PE gear, or you can purchase professionally made and Kristin branded Trimtex Orienteering shirts at $110.00.
Commitment to SportAll students who wish to play sport at Kristin are required to fully commit to the teams they play for and full attendance at trainings and/games is expected. As part of the registration process all players will be required to sign the relevant registration form, which outlines the commitment expectations for the season. Failure to uphold this agreement may result in players being stood down from games or removed from the team.
