General Rules
1. All animals must be checked in prior to 8:30 am on the day of the Show. You must check-in before you go to the scales.
2. Show is open to anyone 21 years old and younger, from any state.
3. Pens are 5’ X 5’.
Penning in the barn will be first come first served. After the barn is full you will have to show off the trailer.
4. All animals must have current health papers at time of unloading.
5. No snaring on show property.
6. No limit to the number of animals you can show. Pigs can be double registered in market and breeding classes. If a pure gilt wishes to show in market it will show with the crosses.
7. Registered animals must have registration papers at check in.
8. All animals must have a readable ear tag or ear notch.
9. Anyone can show in showmanship if an exhibitor will allow you to use his or her pig.
10. Pre-Club (under 5 years old), Novice (6-8 yrs. old), Junior Showmanship (9 – 12 yrs old), Intermediate (13 – 16 yrs old), Senior (17 - 21 yrs old). At day of Show. Supreme Showman after divisions.
11. Market hog and Commercial gilt classes will be split based on weight. (Approx. 15 per class)
12. Registered gilt classes will be split based on age. (Approx. 10-15)
13. Top 3 in Showmanship will receive money on Saturday. Top Five in Showmanship will be recognized with banners on Sunday.
14. Top 4 in each class will receive Money only on Saturday and Banners only on Sunday.
15. Saturday-There will be a champion, reserve champion, 3rd overall, and 4th overall recognized in breeding gilt and market show. (Banners and Money)
16. Sunday-The top 5 will be recognized in the Registered Breeding Gilt, Commercial Breeding Gilt and Market Barrow and Market Gilt shows. (Banners Only)
17. The judge’s decision is final in all classes.
18. Show officials reserve the right to make changes deemed to be in the best interest of the show.
19. The show on Saturday will be like it has been in previous years. The show on Sunday will be a banners only show (Banners Only). Pay-Outs on Saturday. No Pay-Outs on Sunday.
Grooming: Water and oils without dyes will be the only substance permitted for coat dressing. Clipping is allowed in the barns; however restraining of pigs will not be allowed. No color grooming compounds are allowed. If found, the exhibitor is subject to disqualification. No adhesives are allowed. Added hair or other material, natural or man-made, may not be used in the grooming of any exhibit. Pigs should be able to pass a towel wipe test if checked at any point in the showing process.
We will have a concession stand with home cooked items available for breakfast, lunch and snacks On Saturday. No Breakfast on Sunday. Concession will open at 10:00 AM on Sunday for lunch and Snacks.
The Ben Hill County Agricultural Pavilion is a school owned facility and all school rules/laws apply.
