Philanthropy - Institutional Advancement
Parent Engagement and Giving Committee Volunteer
Join a team of parent volunteers who will participate in parent-to-parent outreach (phone call, coffee meeting, email) to follow up on annual giving requests and answer questions parents may have about The Blake Fund. It is a great way to support Blake, connect with other families and strengthen an essential school resource. The commitment is flexible as you can do the outreach when it works with your schedule!
Tour Ambassadors
Do you love meeting families interested in Blake, talking about the school and showing off our wonderful campus, classrooms, teachers and students? If so, consider helping out the Admissions Office as a Tour Ambassador. Our Tour Ambassadors are on the front line with prospective families, leading them through the various divisions and campuses, and sharing personal experience as a Blake Community member. Tour Ambassadors are trained and then shadow veteran tour ambassadors before taking on their own assignments. Tours start in October and run through May. The Admissions Office can make sure tours are scheduled to meet your availability and can work around your schedule! All are welcome -- the only prerequisite is enthusiasm for Blake! Please indicate at which division you would be interested in helping:
Discover Blake Admission Events
The Admissions Office relies on parent volunteers in various roles at its events. These include welcoming and greeting families, sharing the parent perspective during question and answer sessions, sharing your family’s experience at Blake in conversations and leading families to classrooms during the event. The Admission Office will contact volunteers prior to the scheduled event to confirm your availability and provide details. Please indicate at which events you would be interested in helping:
BearWear Committee

Work at BearWear booths at Back to School, Homecoming Lit Fest, Olympic Days or other special events. This is a fun and easy one-time commitment. Please indicate at which events you would be interested in helping:
Blake's communications team relies on volunteers to help photograph our many on-campus events. The pictures are used on the school’s Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts to highlight community activities. Volunteers use their own camera and will work with Tracy Grimm in the Communications Office to plan which events to cover and how to share the photos after the event.
LearningWorks is a unique program between Blake and the Minneapolis Public Schools which provides unique learning experiences for more than 150 MPS 7-8th grade students. LearningWorks follows the “students-teaching-students” model, meaning that all of its teachers are students themselves -- generally Blake Upper School students, or college students who want to learn more about the art of teaching. If you have any questions, please contact Natalie Owens-Pike, Executive Director of LearningWorks at 952-988-3706 or For more information about LearningWorks, go to
