Any misuse of your permit or failure to abide by Federal, State, and local rules and regulations in regard to the burning of restricted materials within the boundaries of the North Bannock Fire District may result in permit revocation and possible fines.

You are required to contact Bannock County Dispatch at 208-236-7111 prior to burning and upon extinguishment for each burn conducted.  *

You are required to check on weather forecasts prior to ignition and to maintain a weather check until the fire is dead out. *
Burning is not allowed with winds above 10 mph.

You are required to always have a responsible individual standing watch with the ability to immediately extinguish the fire if necessary. *

Per the Department of Environmental Quality, burning of most processed or manufactured materials is prohibited, including the following: *
  • Garbage
  • Dead animals or animal waste
  • Motor vehicles or parts
  • Tires or other rubber materials
  • Plastics
  • Asphalt, tar and petroleum materials, and paints
  • Trade waste materials, meaning any waste created by a business, on business premises, or as a result of business activities (dimension lumber, hay not in a field, sawdust, etc.)
  • Insulated wire
  • Pathogenic (disease-causing) waste
  • Hazardous waste

A permit does not relieve the permit holder from liability of fire damage and suppression costs. Any person who is willfully or negligently responsible for the starting or existence of a fire burning out of control without adequate and proper precautions having been taken to prevent its spread shall be held liable. *
