Staff at Piece, Piece Out, and Brobagel are seeking the following line items from ownership and general management: 1) Piece will enthusiastically undergo a Racial and Equity Audit to identify where we are, as an institution, on the continuum of equitable work practices. After completion of the audit, Piece will implement constructive feedback into our workflow to begin the difficult work of creating a more equitable work environment and culture. 2) An unbiased outsourced Human Resources department. 3) Hazard pay for POC who were asked to stay past curfew during dangerous times, and all working employees through the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. 4) More upward mobility for workers of color, and implementing a deliberate, transparent structure for opportunities therein. 5) A deliberately inclusive, transparent hiring process. 6) Community outreach & dedicated monetary donations to explicitly antiracist organizations operating to dismantle white supremacy in Chicago. 7) Sever all ties, including complimentary or discounted food service, to Chicago Police Department. 8) Fair wage increases regardless of the position. 9) Wage transparency for all employees. 10) Robust Personal Protective Equipment and expanded sick pay and healthcare benefits for the entirety of the COVID-19 Pandemic. 11) Immediate hiring of a) graphic designer of color and b) social social media manager of color in place of current graphic designer & social media manager, with initial offer to in-house artists. 12) Revisited tip pooling system for Piece Out to include kitchen staff, and all non-tipped employees. 13) The immediate release and distribution of $11,864 collected in donations by our community members via GoFundMe to support staff.
