Fresno American Indian Health Project is excited to provide this opportunity for Native American/ Alaska Native students to apply for a scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Funds for this opportunity are thanks to a variety of donors and through funds raised from FAIHP's Native Days Car Show Fundraiser.
This scholarship is a one-time award. Applicants may re-apply for future opportunities to be considered. Application and required documents must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. PST on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
Eligibility
- Identify as Native American/ American Indian, currently living in the San Joaquin Central Valley (Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Kings, or Tulare counties).
- Must be an enrolled student at an accredited college, university, or vocational program as part-time or full-time.
- Must have engaged in community service within the past 12 months as validated by a college nominator either on campus or in the community.
- Must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.7
Ineligible
Current Fresno American Indian Health Project staff are ineligible to apply.
Required Documents- Must be emailed to sdodson@faihp.org after submission of this online application by September 17th at 5:00 PM:
- Current Transcript or Proof of Participation. Current transcripts if a college or university student. Unofficial student transcripts from colleges and universities are acceptable for initial application. Or proof of registration or participation in a vocational program, if applicable.
- Letter of Support. Meets the needs of one of the following: Native American Community Leader or another Leader, Employer, or Academic Professor.
- Proof of Tribal Citizenship or Tribal Descendance. Which may include Heritage Statement, proof of lineage, or other tribal documentation.
Recipients will be notified in late September if they are chosen to receive a scholarship and must attend the Fresno American Indian Health Project Native Days Car Show on Saturday, October 5, 2024 to receive their scholarship. Recipients will be photographed and interviewed for use by Fresno American Indian Health Project.
