RSVP: Gun Violence Community Educator Training for Trainers

Michigan has four new gun violence laws to keep our families and communities safe. Now we need to educate the whole state about what these laws mean. They won’t make a difference if no one knows about them.

You can help by becoming a Community Educator.

Community Educators will receive training on our new gun laws and gun violence in general. You will then conduct presentations at your local schools, PTA’s, scout groups, or even your own backyard. Educators will also flyer at places like sporting events and concerts.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to be an expert. We’ll train you. You will then join a leadership team that meets regularly to provide support, coaching and resources.

Our goal is to recruit and train 500 community educators to teach our neighbors about:

-Safe storage of firearms in homes with children;

-Extreme Risk Protection Orders, who is eligible to file them and how;

-Universal background checks, and how to use them;

-New protections for domestic violence survivors.
