2021 Ola Nā Kini Volunteer Workday Form
Join the Mālama Learning Center as we strive to heal the land and sea through restoration efforts in Leeward O'ahu as a part of our Ola Nā Kini program! We will be hosting monthly community workdays that span mauka to makai every second Saturday of the month rotating between 2 sites - Pālehua and Nānākuli Wetland (Zablan's).

2021 Workday Schedule
*Two shifts per workday (AM & PM) with max 5 people per shift*
February 13 - Zablan's - FULL
March 13 - Pālehua - FULL
April 10 - Zablan's - FULL
May 8 - Pālehua - FULL
June 12 - Zablan's - FULL
July 10 - Pālehua - FULL
August 14 - Zablan's
September 11 - Pālehua
October 9 - Zablan's
November 13 - Pālehua
December 11 - Zablan's 

The two shifts per workday are:
• AM Shift: 9:00 am – 11:00 am
• PM Shift: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

During these workdays, you will learn about the historical, cultural, and environmental benefits of native species followed by hana (work) consisting of native outplanting, removal of invasive species and debris, watering, and site preparation for future plantings.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form. We will select volunteers based on their interest, availability, and ability to follow COVID-19 safety protocols (e.g., mask wearing and physical distancing), which will be fully enforced. To minimize risk, priority will be given to residents from single households coming as a group. Children must be at least 10 years of age.

Volunteers will be accepted on a rolling basis. You will be notified by a follow up email, upon which, you will confirm your participation or the time slot will be given to another party. If for some reason, you need to cancel, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled workday.

This is a physical event, held rain or shine, in an environment with no shade and full exposure to the natural elements. You will be walking on uneven terrain and be required to lift, dig, and bend throughout the event. Will this be a concern to you or any member of your group (if applicable)? *

For everyoneʻs safety, all volunteers will be expected to wear long pants, covered shoes, sun protection (e.g, hat and sunglasses), and face mask. Anyone recently exposed to the COVID-19 virus will not be allowed to attend. Physical distancing from those not from the same household will be required.
