Contributions may be technical, educational, or service in nature, or a combination of these. Examples include: • Outstanding technical contributions to the power engineering profession. • Outstanding professional and leadership contributions to the power engineering profession • Significant contributions to the local community representing the power engineering profession. • Outstanding contributions in the area of power engineering education. • Service to the Power & Energy Society and/or IEEE.
Categories: One award will be given annually, in each of the following categories: • 15 or fewer years of professional experience • More than 15 years of professional experience
• Years of experience will be measured from the completion of an undergraduate engineering degree.
Eligibility: • Nominator must be an IEEE member in good standing, of Member, Senior Member or Fellow grade. • Nominee must be an IEEE member and PES member in good standing, of Member, Senior Member, or Fellow grade. • Both Nominator and Nominee must be members of the Southern Alberta Section (reside within its boundaries). o If you are unsure about this criteria, log-in to https://www.ieee.org/Loginforms/myIEEE/login.html and hover over the “Hello, <Your Name>” link at the top of the page. It will show you what Section you belong to. • Members of the Selection Committee are ineligible to act as a nominator, or receive the award. • Self-nominations will not be accepted.
Important Dates: • Dec 19, 2016 – Nomination period begins • May 31, 2017 – Nomination period ends • Jun 30, 2017 – Successful recipients and nominators will be notified by email • Nov 2017 – Awards will be presented at the Southern Alberta Section's Annual General Meeting
Selection Process: • The Selection Committee will be composed of 3 members, consisting of the Southern Alberta PES/IAS Chapter’s Chair, Vice Chair and Past Chair. • All nomination forms must be complete, and contain all information requested. Incomplete forms will not be considered. • All nomination forms will be screened to ensure both nominator and nominee meet the eligibility criteria listed above. • Award recipients will be selected based on the strength of the nomination. • Successful recipients and nominators will be notified of the selection by June 30, 2017. • Successful recipients will be invited to the award presentation at the Southern Alberta Section's Annual General Meeting in November 2017.
