Facilitator Application
Our mission is to create a safe and positive school experience for LGBTQ+ youth through support, education and advocacy.


Working with a co-facilitator, provide a supportive, nurturing and consistent presence for the queer and allied youth who attend Pizza Klatch support groups at local high schools.

21 years of age or 3 years out of high school by the time school year begins
Due to conflict of interest, objectivity and confidentiality, facilitators shall not facilitate groups at schools where a child, dependent or family member goes to school
Fill out necessary background check forms with Pizza Klatch and each school district


Weekly Facilitators
Commitment of at least one year
2-day intensive weekend training
1.5-2 hours each week facilitating support groups at a local high school
September - June (except for Winter and Spring break weeks)
2 hour group consultation the third Thursday of each month with all facilitators and licensed therapist
Planning sessions with co-facilitator (optional and as-needed)

Sub Facilitators
2-day intensive weekend training
1.5-2 hours per school as needed
Commitment of at least one year

Arrive early (about 10-15 min) to check in at the front desk and set up the classroom / pizza
Maintain a consistent structure of support so that youth know what to expect
Plan activities such as ice breakers, guest speakers, learning activities, discussions
Work with a co-facilitator to create a safe space for youth to share openly
Manage conflict, maintain objectivity and manage time
Provide constructive and positive feedback when youth ask for it
Be knowledgeable of local resources for LGBTQ+ youth
Have awareness about the impacts and effects of intersectional oppressions such as homophobia, transphobia, racism, classism, ableism on queer youth
Occasionally work with youth individually after group time to ensure they get needed resources
Communicate needs of youth with teachers/faculty when necessary
Act as a mandated reporter for any imminent harm (covered in training)
