The Use of Virtual and Augmented Reality Technology in UP SURP
Good day!

We are researchers from the University of the Philippines School of Urban and Regional Planning. We are conducting a market study on the use of Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality in the field of coastal urban planning.

Virtual Reality (VR) may be defined as “…the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds. By simulating as many senses as possible, such as vision, hearing, touch, even smell, the computer is transformed into a gatekeeper to this artificial world.”
Virtual reality is currently used in various fields, such as gaming, architecture, marketing, and urban planning, to name a few. Our study aims to prepare for the establishment of a National Virtual Reality Innovation and Application Center for Sustainable and Smarter Coastal Urban and Rural Planning in the Philippines with special reference to coastal cities and municipalities and the successful subsequent transfer of suitable VR technology, expertise and know-how to the country— particularly in coastal urban planning.

May we request a few minutes of your time to answer the survey; rest assured that your answers will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

Thank you very much and have a good day.
