Glenwood Fresh Market appreciates your willingness to commit time and effort to the operation of our market. We are proud to have created a market space which offers our members a unique experience. We serve our clients with respect, dignity and compassion. We are committed to respecting your skills and individual needs within the limitation of these requirements. We ask your cooperation in following these guidelines.
1. It is our policy that all volunteers, staff, and Clients at the Market wear a mask during hours that the Market is open as we serve a vulnerable population that is susceptible to upper respiratory infections. You are encouraged to bring your own mask, but if you do not have a Mask, one will be provided to you.
2. Come dressed to volunteer. Closed toe shoes and long pants are required for food sorting. Sandals, sleeveless shirts, shorts, revealing or offensive clothing are not permitted.
3. Follow staff instruction and complete duties as assigned. For safety reasons, use of ear buds and cell phones is not prohibited during your volunteer hours. Volunteers leaving before the end of a shift must advise staff.
4. Any volunteer requiring a proof of hours should speak with the market manager for documentation.
5. Health and Hygiene – If you are ill, refrain from volunteering. Proper hygiene is required as well as handwashing before handling food, after break, or returning from the restroom. Keep your work areas clean.
6. Be safe. Use proper lifting techniques, using your legs to push upwards, keeping your back straight and body balanced. Solicit the help of another person to lift objects over 20 pounds.
7. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated by staff or volunteers. Any behavior intended to create discord or restricting volunteers or staff from working will not be tolerated. Report incidents immediately to market manager.
8. Anyone under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will not be permitted to volunteer.
9. Market youth volunteers (ages 16+) must have a parental/guardian permission in order to volunteer.
10. We recognize that events happen that can prevent a volunteer from reporting for a shift, so we ask that if you must call off that you do so as soon as possible and prior to your assigned start time. We work with very limited staffing so will need to work on reorganizing staff for the day. Repeated call-offs will be met with termination of volunteer acceptance.
BY SIGNING BELOW, I have read and understand my responsibility to follow these rules while I am volunteering at Glenwood Fresh Market activities. If I am ill, I will refrain from volunteering. Any injuries will be reported immediately to staff. I understand that I will be asked to discontinue volunteering and leave the premises if I do not follow these requirements and show good judgment.
I understand that assigned duties at the Glenwood Fresh Market may be physically demanding; I affirm that my health is good, and that I am not under a physician’s care for any undisclosed condition that might endanger my health or that of other participants. I recognize the inherent risk of injury or disability in these activities. I fully understand that if injury occurs it must be documented and reported immediately to the market manager. YNDC and the Glenwood Fresh Market are released from all liability for any injury to me from participation as a market volunteer. YNDC is further given the free use of my likeness in the connection with any broadcast, release, media account or other publicity generated by the activity.
