PROFESSIONAL LEARNING WORKSHOP BY ROB VINGERHOETS
TITLE: FRACTIONS, DECIMALS, PERCENTAGES AND STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY (F-8)
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:
Far too often this topic/content is not the kids’ favourite or yours as a teacher. Come along to this workshop and change all that. This day will be all about providing you not only with some content knowledge on fractions/decimals/percentages and how they work and how they connect and how they make sense and when and where to use them; it will also be about providing you with a whole range of traction/decimal/% tasks and activities that are practical, mathematically rich and engaging and that you can use as soon as you need to.
The activities will cover Prep through to Year 8 and will feature both warm-ups/lesson starters and full on student activity/whole lesson tasks.

WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring with you an A4 exercise book or paper, a ruler, calculator and lead pencil. Colour pencils, crayons or textas would also be useful.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Rob Vingerhoets is an experienced and highly effective educator and subject matter expert who has worked with teachers and students throughout Melbourne; throughout Country Victoria; interstate and overseas (New York City, Beijing). Prior to this he was a primary school principal, curriculum coordinator and classroom teacher. He is an experienced teacher and author, having written a number of best-selling Maths resource books and numerous articles.
Rob is a popular and engaging presenter of hands-on and engaging Maths ideas and practices to teachers and students in Catholic, State and Independent schools over many years and he essentially believes and teaches by his credo that “Maths doesn’t have to hurt”. Rob works with students, teachers, administration and parents within individual and clusters of schools.
