Competition Format:
- Discipline - Vocal, Instrumental (Strings - Violin, Veena), Instrumental (Percussion- Mridangam)
- Age Range - Junior (10-12 yrs), Sub Senior (13-14 yrs), Senior (15-24 yrs), Open Category (24+ yrs)
- Categories - Kriti, Ragam, Swaram, Viruttam (For Vocal), Kriti, Ragam, Swaram (For Strings), Thani, Song accompaniment (For Percussion)
COMPETITION CATEGORY DETAILS:
Vocal: Please provide details (Name, Ragam, Talam, Composer) for three pieces. Participants will be asked to present one piece from their selections by the judges.
Instrumental (Strings - Violin and Veena): Please provide details (Name, Ragam, Talam, Composer) for three pieces. Participants will be asked to present one piece from their selections by the judges.
NOTE: Participants may bring their contact microphones and any related equipment (pre-amplification/noise reduction/phantom power/speakers and other accessories). BAKU does not guarantee functioning of such equipment when connected to any technical sound management systems onsite. BAKU also does not assume any responsibility for damages that may occur to such equipment brought on site.
Instrumental (Percussion - Mridangam): This category has two modes: Thani and Accompaniment.
Thani: Please provide details (Talam) for two pieces to present. Participants will be asked to present one piece from the selection by judges.
Accompaniment: This is an improvisational category. Song choice will be at the discretion of the judges and/or vocalist for whom the percussion competitor will provide support. Please provide Two Talams for the judges to choose a song from.
Participants are required to submit separate registrations if competing in more than one discipline.
For example, if a participant would like to compete in vocal and instrumental strings discipline, they would have to submit two registrations.
And if a participant would like to register for all three disciplines (vocal, instrumental strings and instrumental percussion), they would have to submit three registrations.
