To give you more information of what the color guard is. Members of the Hickory Color Guard are also members of the Hickory Marching Band. These are the students who dance, spin flags, rifles and sabres and enhance the visual package of the marching band show. Members of the color guard prepare for the upcoming season by attending practice during band camp (August) as well as after school during the week(Tuesday-Thursday). The color guard members will also participate in all football games where the marching band is present as well as multiple marching band competitions during the weekends.
The marching band season officially begins the first week of August and runs through the first week of November. We have two scheduled competitions where the students will travel and will stay over night.
