2018 Luann and Ray Martin Maternal and Child Health Scholarship
A Note to All Applicants: All requested materials must be submitted by February 2, 2018 - no exceptions. Any incomplete submissions will not be considered. Applicants must pay all membership dues owed before their application will be considered. Finally, this year CCIH cannot send visa invitation letters to new members.

To provide scholarships toward the cost of attending CCIH’s Annual Conference, specifically for applicants meeting the eligibility requirements set forth below.

The fund honors the memory of Mrs. Luann Martin, wife of CCIH Executive Director Emeritus Ray Martin. Luann was a passionate advocate for maternal and child health and spent much of her career working on these issues. She was, and Ray continues to be, passionate about working with the next generation of Christian global health workers.

This Fund does not replace CCIH’s regular conference scholarship effort, but is intended to attract funding and applicants specifically focused on maternal and child health. The general scholarship fund will continue to attract funding and applicants with more general or different global health interests.

1. Applicants must complete the following by February 2, 2018:

c. Have a professional/academic reference complete the recommendation form online:
c. Update membership dues:
i. New members must submit a membership application and send in 2018 dues before applying.
ii. Current members must have paid 2017 and 2018 dues by the time of application.
iii. Visa applicants must be current (2017) members of CCIH.

Any CCIH student, recent graduate, or developing country member with a professional interest in maternal and child health issues is eligible to apply. “Professional interest” is defined as:
For developing country professionals: working on maternal and child health as part of one’s professional duties
For students and recent graduates (within one year of graduation): studying maternal and child health as a significant focus of one’s academic program and possessing a desire to enter the field.

Other eligibility requirements are similar to CCIH’s regular conference scholarship fund, including:
- Are dues-paying CCIH members (see above)
- Are able to demonstrate that they would benefit professionally from exposure to the CCIH conference, and that their experience will help them positively contribute to their organization.
- Represent a local or national non-profit organization or school/university, not an international non-governmental organization.
- Represent an organization or school which does not have sufficient budget to enable them to participate otherwise.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Meet the 2018 requirements for visa letter applicants, if applicable.

Applicants will be selected based on his/her personal statement (submitted next page) sharing his/her background in maternal and child health, his/her goals for the conference, his/her perceived personal and community needs and the potential to promote CCIH mission in his/her country of origin. Applicants must also send in a curriculum vitae (CV) to scholarships@ccih.org and have one professional/academic reference complete the online reference form: http://tinyurl.com/CCIHrecs

The scholarship has a retail value of approximately $525.00, which covers: registration; breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; two pre-conference workshops on Friday; and reduced lodging prices. You are responsible for your lodging costs and transportation to the conference. Lodging is approximately $70.00/night for a single-occupancy room. Your room will be within a suite shared with one to three other people.

1. Attend the entire conference, July 13-15, 2017, including participation in all pre-conference sessions and the CCIH Advocacy Day (July 16)
2. Volunteer at the conference, e.g. help with time cards during Q & A sessions of plenaries, assist with set-up or clean-up of conference. Assignments will be given the month of the conference.
3. Inform CCIH by June 1, 2018 if you cannot attend the conference
4. Provide a report on Conference experience for the CCIH Newsletter - The Connector to conference@ccih.org by August 1, 2018.

Any recipients who do not adhere to the responsibilities listed above will be sent an invoice for the balance of their 2018 conference expenses and are ineligible for future scholarship opportunities with CCIH.
