P. D. McLean Award
In commemoration of the energy, tact, and dedication of P. D. McLean, one of the founders and first chairman of the Road Gang, the annual P. D. McLean Memorial Award was established in 1962. This is a fitting tribute in P. D. McLean, who, as Assistant Director of the National Highway Users Conference, and in other capacities, devoted his entire career to the advancement of highway transportation. The award is presented annually to an individual whose achievements in any of the highway transportation related fields qualify them to receive this distinct honor. The Award is given “for a distinct contribution to the cause of better highway transportation in the public interest.”
Daniel J. Hanson Award
In recognition of long and dedicated service to the Road Gang, this award was first presented to Daniel J. Hanson in 1990. The award is presented to a Road Gang member to commemorate extraordinary service to the organization when deemed appropriate by the Advisory Committee. When awarded, the presentation of this honor is made during the Road Gang Annual Meeting.
Lester P. Lamm Memorial Award
First presented in 1996, this award commemorates the leadership and guidance Les Lamm gave to the highway community over 40 years with the Federal Highway Administration and the Highway Users Federation. The award is presented to outstanding public servants exhibiting leadership and dedication to the U.S. highway transportation programs.
