The Safe Access Fellowship Application Form (2020 Edition)
The LGBTQ+ community across India remains marginalized, and fearful of discrimination, homophobia, verbal abuse and harassment while accessing healthcare for their sexual, mental and comprehensive health needs. This leads to delay in seeking treatment, increased potential for misdiagnoses and possible negative health outcomes.
Who are we?
Safe Access is a community-led flagship project under Qequal Foundation, a Section-8, Not-for-Profit registered organization based in Delhi. It is our mission to reduce health disparities and inequities that exist among the LGBTQ+ community in India while accessing healthcare.
What we do?
We work with health service providers, and build their capacity to deliver safe, non-discriminatory, and non-judgmental healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community across India. We list healthcare providers who have been consulted, sensitized and have shown their commitment to work with the community through our web platform -
- where the community can locate such providers in their cities, and rate and review their experiences.
What is the Safe Access Fellowship?
We are launching our second version of The Safe Access Fellowship, a six-month, part-time, non-residential fellowship with two primary goals:
- To locate, sensitize and on-board LGBTQ+ friendly, affirmative, compassionate and community-trusted healthcare providers.
- To build community awareness on comprehensive healthcare through on-ground events, and social media campaigns
Our focus in this second round of fellowship is on the following states: Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka, and Kerala.
However, applicants from other states will also be eligible and we encourage all to apply.
The applications will close on 14th Feb, 2020.
Short-listed candidates will be contacted for a telephonic interview at the beginning of February 2020.
Selected fellows will be notified by 15th Feb, 2020.
There will be a fully-paid, mandatory, 4-day induction training in Bangalore at the end of March 2020.
The fellowship will run from 1st April, 2020 to 30th Sep, 2020.
Who can apply?
We invite young change makers (18-29 years), human rights activists, community organizers and leaders, grassroots activists and health service practitioners with affinity to local LGBTQ+ communities of their respective cities and towns.
What is expected of a Fellow?
