2018 Christmas Pageant Sign Up
BUMC Children's Christmas Pageant Sign Up.

The pageant will be performed during the 1st Service at BUMC. We will be doing the same pageant as last year, "Twas the Night Before". There are many speaking parts from one-liners, to parts that interact thru the pageant, to non-speaking parts, to larger parts such as Gabriel, Angel 1, & Mary and Joseph.

Little Angels Prek,(3 yrs & 4 yrs as of Sept. 1, 2018) AND Kdg. will sing 1st verse of "Away in a Manger"

ALL PARENTS-- if your child wants to be a Little Angel instead of having a Speaking part please ask.

Townspeople, Shepherds, Wisemen (1st-3rd Grade - speaking parts - one to two lines to memorize)

Gabriel, Angel 1, Angel 2, Herod (3rd- 5th graders depending on signups (lots of memorization)

Reader 1, Reader 2 (non memorization - just practice reading the part - 5th or 8th Grader with good speaking voice)

Joseph, Mary (large block of speaking part - reserved for 5th Graders or 4th Graders, will utilize older kids if necessary

What you need to know to make your decision:

*All Speaking Parts (except the Readers) would be MEMORIZED parts. By signing up you are making a commitment to memorize your part.

*The Pageant would take the place of the Sermon in the regular service and is approx. 15 minutes long.
*Costumes are provided.

*You must memorize your part BEFORE the rehearsal.

*There will be only ONE Dress Rehearsal. This is the ONLY rehearsal and it is mandatory for everyone with an assigned part in "Twas the Night Before". And is very helpful for the Little Angels.

*Non-Speaking Parts would be for "Priests" and "Attendants" or “Soldier”(you want to participate, but not speak).

Important Dates:
November 4 SIGN UPS BEGIN
November 20 LAST DAY TO SIGN UP FOR A SPEAKING PART (parts emailed Nov. 26)
December 8 DRESS REHEARSAL at BUMC from 4-5:30 PM
December 9 Pageant 1st Service at BUMC (arrive by 8:45 am. Service begins at 9 am.

December 9 - IMPORTANT - This is our ONLY perrformance! Pancake breakfast for everyone to follow! Then stay for Sunday School!

Parts will be assigned and emailed starting Nov. 26th. Please make sure your email address is correct.

We provided this same Pageant the last five years and it was a HUGE success!!!!! We are doing this again as our Traditional Christmas Pageant so that anyone (Sunday school kids, Wednesday night kids, and children in the church can participate by simply practicing at home and coming to ONE rehearsal. This year we encourage you to invite NEW friends that might be interested in participating!)

This is a success if you help make it happen! Parents are encouraged to read the script and interact with their kids to help them learn their parts.

We also need parent volunteers. If you can volunteer to help during the dress rehearsal or day of pageant (dress rehearsal is usually more chaotic and needs more help than the performance)

Thanks!

*Mandatory to be at the Dress Rehearsal and Performance. You MUST MEMORIZE your part and be prepared to practice without your script by the dress rehearsal date. **Readers do not need to memorize, but should practice reading to make it fluid. The reading should mimic the traditional Christmas story of "T'was the Night Before Christmas". ***Not mandatory for Little Angels to be at the dress rehearsal, but highly suggested.
Volunteers Needed
Dress Rehearsal Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to help participants dress. You will be assigned a set of kids to assist. Little Angel helpers will also practice Away in a Manger with the kids. Behind the scenes volunteers will assist behind the scenes if needed - Keeping kids quiet and focused on when to enter. Biggest help is getting the Little Angels into the pageant to perform and assisting when they are finished. Volunteers for Little Angels get front row seating. Piano player, any adult or youth that would like to play for our rehearsal & pageant. Contact Mrs. Zabka for more info.
Photo Use Permission *
I understand that pictures will be taken at the Dress Rehearsal and Performance. Batavia United Methodist Church (BUMC) has my permission to use my child's picture for promotional purposes. Such as, but not limited to, BUMC Facebook page, the E-Connection, brochures, and display boards. I understand that my child will never be tagged in any of the pictures, and that while I grant permission, I have the right to ask for removal of any picture from social media.
