Families Organizing For Racial Justice at Bigelow Middle School
Bigelow FORJ is a school-based chapter of Newton’s Families Organizing for Racial Justice (FORJ).(See more at
). Newton FORJ is a group of diverse Newton families helping our children learn about issues of power and inequality and how to stand up for racial justice. We seek to generate understanding and curiosity about differences in our society, and to work together towards racial equity.
Bigelow FORJ is a group of devoted parents and faculty committed to raising anti-racist children who acknowledge the pervasiveness of oppression and marginalization. We invite parents and children to engage in critical conversations that support questioning, interrogating, and dismantling of white supremacy, including anti-Blackness and all forms of racial injustice.
In light of what is happening in our world and in our communities around racial injustice, and renewed attention to many of these issues in ways we haven't seen since 1968, we believe that this moment is particularly important for listening, learning, and skill building for students, families, and teachers.
As we begin to plan activities for learning this year, please help us understand your interest and needs by completing this brief survey. We would like your response by 8/31/20.
