Recently, two additional plaintiffs alleging abuses within the Dartmouth College Psychological and Brain Sciences (PBS) department were added to the lawsuit filed by seven other current and former Dartmouth students, against Dartmouth College. The College responded by submitting a motion challenging the anonymity of the two new plaintiffs who are proceeding as Jane Does. This action has the potential to set a frightening precedent that threatens the safety and privacy of victims and survivors who pursue justice. The Dartmouth Community Against Gender Harassment and Sexual Violence (DCGHSV), the Student and Presidential Committee on Sexual Assault (SPCSA), and the Dartmouth chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) together have written the statement below, calling for the College to reverse this course of action and rescind the opposition to anonymity.
