Front Desk Staff
We're looking for outgoing, enthusiastic applicants who love climbing and can't wait to share their passion with new and seasoned climbers alike. Our front desk staff handles all aspects of customer service, cleaning, and maintenance of the gym. Front desk staff report directly to the Assistant General Manager, Facilities Manager, and General Manager.

AVAILABILITY:

  • Minimum requirement of 4 shifts per month

  • Availability on weekdays and weekends

  • Full or Part Time hours year round

  • Scheduling is flexible within reason


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead guests and members through their High Point climbing experience including waiver completion, orientations, gear sizing, and educating on successful climbing strategies  

  • Constantly and effectively monitor all areas of the gym for proper climbing, bouldering and belaying techniques  

  • Effectively completes tasks assigned by supervisors including gym cleaning, inventory, hold washing, other tasks assigned  

  • Close/open the gym at night/morning, making sure things are in order for the (next) day  

  • Sell climbing gear, memberships, classes, etc. in a friendly, professional and knowledgeable manner   

  • Field customer inquiries and complaints and professionally communicate to upper management   

  • Interact with customers and employees at the front desk  

  • Proactively contribute to a successful, inclusive gym environment  

  • Other duties are assigned as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS: (High Point may offer some of the required training)

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Climbing experience is preferred   

  • Exceptional customer service skills  

  • An inclusive, welcoming attitude to every person who enters the gym   

  • Effective communication techniques with employees and customers  

  • Computer and point of sale proficiency  

  • Additional bonus qualifications include First Aid and CPR, AMGA, CWI, SPI


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of settings

  • Walking, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, lifting (could be up to 50 pounds).


COMPENSATION (HOURLY): 

$10-14/hr based on experience
