About us: We’re the Loisaida Open Streets Community Coalition (LOSCC)—a group of residents volunteering to create more public space for residents to walk, roll, cycle, exercise, enjoy performances, make art, and support local businesses.

NYC Department of Transportation named us the official partner of the Open Streets program in our neighborhood as of June 26, 2020.

As volunteers, we move street barricades out at 8am, monitor them during the day, and remove them at the 8pm cutoff. Some of us also volunteer to help with construction and art, program management and administration (volunteer coordinating, social media, events etc.).

Open Streets official hours are 8am-8pm, 7 days a week. Deliveries and dropoffs are allowed, but only at 5mph and only for a single given block (where the pickup/dropoff is). Emergency vehicles are always allowed; 15' gap is provided for emergency vehicle access.
