The Dual Enrollment Ambassador Program is
a student leadership opportunity intended to enhance the Dual Enrollment
student experience. Ambassadors serve as members of a Dual Enrollment Student
Advisory Council and gain leadership and networking opportunities.
A Dual Enrollment Ambassador is a student who has, or will, successfully participate in a dual
enrollment college course at their school site. The role of a Dual
Enrollment Ambassador is to act as mentor and local resource for their school dual enrollment program. This student will work with fellow dual
enrollment students and high schools/adult school staff to enhance awareness
and success in dual enrollment. S/he/They will know about dual enrollment procedures and
college resources to assist fellow dual enrollment students with academic
concerns. The Dual Enrollment Ambassador is a liaison between the student/dual
enrollment program and the Mendocino College Center staff.
Appropriate training will be provided for
the team of Dual Enrollment Ambassadors to assure excellence in their role.
The Dual Enrollment Ambassador will:
- Attend
regional Zoom trainings on the ambassador program
- Provide
dual enrollment onboarding sessions at the beginning of each semester
within each dual enrollment class at their school site (assist with password
obtainment and login to Mendocino College
e-mail and Canvas)
- Attend
appropriate school events to share information on dual enrollment (College Days)
- Complete
a midterm check-in with each dual enrollment course
- Participate
in quarterly Dual Enrollment Student Advisory Council meetings with Mendocino College
- Perform
other duties as assigned
Skills and qualities:
- Excellent
interpersonal communications skills
- Excellent
written communications skills
- Demonstrated
ability to work with diverse student populations (disabled, first
generation college, economically disadvantaged, non-native English
speakers)
- Demonstrate
knowledge of Mendocino
College and its
philosophy
- Ability
to recognize when referral is appropriate and necessary
- Ability
to work independently as well as an effective team member available to
work some evening and weekend assignments.
Work Schedule
- The
work schedule for Dual Enrollment Ambassador is flexible. Ambassadors will
attend required trainings, provide onboarding, and check in with Mendocino
College staff each semester.
Compensation
- $300 stipend per full semester
