Leaders In Training is organizing & social justice leadership program for youth and young adults from neighborhoods directly impacted by high rates of violence and mass incarceration.
Leaders In Training youth members work to shift the culture in Alameda County from hopelessness and despair to a culture of peace and unity, while they organize for changes in public policy to create more safe and peaceful communities.
Previous Leaders In Training members have been involved in a number of local policy issues such as raising the Oakland minimum wage, defeating a proposed curfew policy, pushing to end the treatment of youth as adults in the criminal justice system, and helping pass Prop 57.
Oakland Lit Mob is no longer accepting applications! However, youth living in South County (Hayward, Ashland, Cherryland, San Leandro, Union City) may still apply.Program will begin Tuesday October 10th, 2023- May 7th, 2024 for Oakland Residents
Wednesday October 11th, 2023- May 8th for South County Residents
