Decolonize Your Bookshelf!
I am working on what I hope will be an ongoing project for the My Writing Hero blog. I'm calling this potential project, "Decolonize Your Bookshelf!" The goal of this monthly blog post series would be to promote works of fiction by BIPOC authors, who are often overlooked by the traditional Western literary canon.

While most MWH blog posts will of course continue to focus on writing tips and craft, one blog post every month would be dedicated to promoting voices of color. It would be my hope to not only feature well-known books and authors, but to also showcase the "best-kept secret" books and authors that deserve more recognition in the literary world. Right now, I am thinking of focusing each post on a particular genre of fiction (ex: dystopian sci-fi, historical fiction, suspense/thriller, etc.) but I am open to other possibilities.

This is where YOU come in.

I would love to know more of what you would find helpful in this series. What recommendations would be useful? What genres are you interested in? What genres are you *not* interested in? Etc.

Please fill out the following [short] survey, and feel free to reach out to me at cykirch@mywritinghero.com if you have further comments/questions.
