Open Call to Performers - Tnmot Aztro Installation Performance of CITIZEN: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine Sign up form:
OPEN TO PERFORMERS AT ANY LEVEL

For 2018 I was selected to create a Performance Installation to the chosen book of Citizen An American Lyric by Poet and Author Claudia Rankine. What I submitted as my portion to the National Endowment for the Arts was a volunteer based and co developed dance installation performance entitled “Citizen” in which citizens of Hartford and its surrounding areas voluntarily commit to (4) two hour creation workshops, in which we use the book and the choreographic movement structures I wrote as our road map to creating a movement piece on racism in its current state.

Tnmot Aztro will provide the rehearsal in partnership with Tainted Inc and performance installation will take place at The Hartford Public Library - Main Branch - the main event here: An Evening with Claudia Rankine, 2018 Big Read Author of Citizen Tnmot Aztro will create the visual landscape of the performance set, sounds, props, sculptures, audience seating, technical runs, and lighting with help of David Borawski and Rickey Silverspoon. Rickey Silverspoon's work will be on view along with films created by myself and David.

The performers are solely responsible for:
Showing up to all rehearsal workshops
Creating the material with me as well as learning material
Remembering the work and performing in the culminating event on April 26th where Claudia Rankine will be delivering a Keynote after the performance.

Once again - OPEN TO PERFORMERS AT ANY LEVEL

Person limit of 35 people.

Taking place in these creation workshops mean you want to make a commitment to fighting racism and white supremacy through art and dance. You must commit, dropping out is not something this project has time nor is designed for so COMMITMENT is everything.
