Wednesday Wobble Constitution – V1.2 02/06/26
NAME
The name of the Club is “The Wednesday Wobble”, hereafter referred to as ‘the Club’.

OBJECT
The Club will promote and encourage the pastime of cycling in a social friendly manner in and around Shrewsbury and surrounding areas and to foster a spirit of wellbeing amongst its members.

CLUB COLOURS
The Club has no specific club colours but does have a branding that is contained in the Club website at www.wednesdaywobble.co.uk.

MEMBERSHIP
The Club membership is on a non-subscription basis. However, from time to time Club members may be asked to contribute financially on a voluntary basis to Club focus group agreed events or activities.

Membership of the Club is open to all regardless of gender, ethnicity,  religious belief or age 18 and above. Members are expected to be able to meet the minimum fitness, ride ability and standards detailed in Minimum Requirements. Members not adhering to the constitution may be excluded.

Members may be asked on a voluntary basis to join a Club focus group that in turn will be responsible for reviewing the Club activities, safety, event handling and the general direction of the Club.

RESPONSIBILITIES
It is compulsory that all members have adequate insurance to cover all Club activities in which they take part. Members of the Club are not protected by insurance held by the Club on its member’s behalf. The Club or any or its members are not liable for any claims made against them by other members.

Each member will at all times on Club rides, conduct themselves within the rules of the Club and be aware of the environment in which they are participating and should therefore adhere to and participate within the standards of safety, civility and the ideals of the Club, and shall never conduct themselves individually or jointly in a manner that reflects adversely on the good name of the Club or brings the Club, other members or its aspirations into disrepute.

Each member is responsible for being aware of the current ride route, destination, length and terrain as published in advance on the Club website and it is recommended that members have some form of navigation device and the ability to make their way home safely in case of an unforeseen issue.

Each rider is expected to contribute to the Club ride policy of “no rider is left behind” and is expected to ensure that the ride group speed and safety does not adversely affect any other rider. The Club actively encourages any rider who wishes to have a more challenging ride to attend one of the two other FCC ride options.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Club members are expected to be able to ride comfortably for 3 to 4 hours at 12 to 15 miles per hour on a road bike and safely ride in a group of 6 to 8 other riders for a distance of 30 to 50 miles. Rides will have a mid-way refreshment stop and riders are responsible for purchasing their own refreshments, preferable when ride groups are mixed up each week.

All Club members are expected to be aware of, and adhere to, the current cycling road safety requirements in the Highway Code. In addition, Club riders are expected to wear helmets, be suitably dressed for the current weather conditions, use lights where appropriate, particularly in winter months and have mudguards fitted to protect the group from road water spray in adverse weather conditions.

All club members are expected to follow group riding requirements of pointing out obstructions, road defects, road dangers and close vehicle movements and to allow overtaking vehicles to judge when to safely overtake the ride group without a signal from the ride group. The ride group is expected to allow vehicles to overtake when the road conditions and width allow and to pull in to allow this to happen on narrow lanes.

The Club expects that your bike is reasonably maintained, carries adequate repair items and does not adversely affect the safety of other Club riders.
