Books & Bottles 7/15 with Tana Wojczuk
Join us on 7/15 for July's Books & Bottles, an ongoing reading series meets literary happy hour presented by Guernica Magazine, where authors and audience sip and share wine to match the featured book. This month, author and Guernica editor Tana Wojczuk joins host and Guernica Events Director Mickie Meinhardt for a discussion on and reading from her new book, Lady Romeo: The Radical and revolutionary Life of Charlotte Cushman, America's First Celebrity.

Attendees are highly encouraged to join with a wine or cocktail of their choice. If you want to imbibe along, Mickie is pairing Tana's book with a sparkling rosé.

Tana Wojczuk is the author of LADY ROMEO. She is a senior nonfiction editor at Guernica and teaches writing at New York University in the Expository Writing Program. Previously, she wrote a film column for Bomb Magazine and column about American Shakespeare for Guernica. Other nonfiction has appeared in in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Tin House,Vice, The Believer, Gulf Coast, Apogee, Lapham’s Quarterly, The Rumpus, Narrative, Paste Magazine, BOMB Magazine, and elsewhere. Tana has an MFA in nonfiction from Columbia University where she taught in the Undergraduate Writing Program and was a course director for University Writing: Law and Justice and co-director for Writing American Studies. She was a finalist for the 2017 Gulf Coast Nonfiction prize judged by David Shields and has been a fellow at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation residency and Tin House Summer Writers Workshop. Originally from Boulder, CO, she lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Mickie Meinhardt is a Brooklyn-based writer and literary event host. She is the Events Director for Guernica magazine, the co-founder of New York writer's variety show Same Page, and the founder of the literary wine project The Buzzed Word, now a live series in New York and elsewhere.She is a regular contributor to Guernica and The Bitter Southerner, and her other works has appeared in Eater, The Seventh Wave, and others. She holds an MFA from The New School where she was a Creative Writing Fellow.
