The Open Doubles event is scheduled to for the following weekends .

Round 1 - 9th & 10th September
Round 2 - 16th & 17th September
Round 3 (Top 20) 23rd & 24th September


FORMAT:

(based on 66 entrants which is what we've had last couple of years)

Round 1 - Top 10 pairs have a bye...... 7 Groups of 8, round robin (x3) Top 4 progress

Round 2 - 10 seeds plus 28 pairs from round 1.......  2 groups of 7 and 3 of 8..... round robin (x3), top 4 progress to final 20

Round 3 (Top 20)..... All 20 players in a double elimination knockout over 2 days.

Play commences at 11am where possible, but this may vary depending on the venues being used. Tables will be open a half hour before expected starting time for practice. Rounds will require approximately 7 to 8 hours to complete. There will be no breaks for lunch.

• Entries for the Open Doubles are due by the close Wednesday 30 August 2017.
• No entries will be accepted without the accompanying fees. The relevant entry fees (see above) MUST accompany entries.
• The format and dates for the selection trials have been based on an expected number of entries being received. The Tournament Director reserves the right to vary both the format and dates should this become necessary.
• All groups (including seeds) are initially compiled from previous 2 years results in Open Doubles, then adjusted where possible for preferred day of play.
• No changes to the groups will be made once they are finalised and released, so if you are unable to play on a particular day, you must advise the tournament director by the Tuesday before the weekend.
• All entries are accepted under the provision that the entrant agrees to abide by all and any directions made by the Tournament Director and that their decisions will be final.
• The draws will be e-mailed to all competitors who have provided an email address, and will also be available on the ACTEBA website (acteba.com.au). Competitors will NOT be notified by phone. It is each player’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of when and where they are playing. If you don’t have email, then make sure you contact the Tournament Director!
