THE VIOLA PROJECT SUMMER 2019: Tuition Waiver and Partial Waiver Application

The Viola Project welcomes all youth ages 10-16 who culturally identify as girls and women regardless of their race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation or ability.
The Viola Project offers Shakespeare summer camps in Chicago’s Edgewater and Hyde Park neighborhoods and Oak Park's Austin Gardens. While The Viola Project is tuition based, we offer sliding tuition waivers to girls between the ages of 10 and 16 who are passionate about theatre, Shakespeare and changing the world and do not have the resources to pay full tuition.

When awarded financial assistance, expectations are as follows:

-A Viola student must be punctual and arrive between 8:30 and 9:00am for each day of camp. Our teachers work very hard to have activities planned for the whole day and we begin on time.

-A Viola student must be supportive, encouraging and compassionate to other campers. We work with girls from all over the city who might have different opinions and different experiences than you do. A Viola Girl must exhibit an open mind!

-A Viola student must meet the expectations set by the lead teacher, including rehearsing a Shakespeare scene with her scene partner, participating fully in learning activities and the final performance. We schedule breaks for lunch, snacks, bathroom and take an afternoon off to go the beach! The rest of the time, your scene partner needs you!

Please note that we hold camps in Chicago at City Lit Theater (Edgewater), Logan Center (Hyde Park), and Austin Gardens (Oak Park). Make sure you can get to the location you choose!
