A Green New Deal is already underway in cities and states throughout the country. In September 2019, the CT Climate Crisis Mobilization Coalition presented a Climate Emergency Resolution that called upon Governor Lamont and the Connecticut General Assembly to declare a climate emergency, set a goal of eliminating climate pollution statewide by 2030, and commit to working with local communities and organizations to create a "just transition" to a clean energy economy. However, the proposal was largely ignored.

In light of the inaction on climate change by Connecticut officials, the New Haven Climate Movement calls on Governor Lamont and the Connecticut General Assembly to support the Climate Emergency Resolution by declaring a climate emergency and enacting a statewide Green New Deal.
