NYYM Structure Questions
Note: the deadline for responses has now passed. You can respond but your answers to the questions won't be included in the report.  There will be further possibility for input at Coordinating Committee weekend.  Decisions about the committees under Nurture Coordinating Committee will very likely come to Spring Sessions. Questions about the broader structure of NYYM will very likely have quite a few more venues for input and discernment.

--------------

In order to make best use of our time together at Coordinating Committee Weekend January 26 - 28, Liaison Committee (which is currently comprised of the YM clerk, assistant clerk, the coordinating committee clerks, the clerk of Trustees, and the clerk of the Meeting for Discernment Steering committee, with participation by the YM general secretary) is soliciting ideas about the structure of NYYM. The need for this grew out of the problem created by a non-functioning Nurture Coordinating Committee. We are all invited to think not just about the resulting immediate and specific concerns but also about what structure would best support the movement of Spirit among us.

Questions range from very specific such as how we should support the work of particular committees that have been within the Nurture Coordinating Committee to very broad such as what criteria would best be used to evaluate any new structure.

This questionnaire is not being used to make any decisions. Results from this questionnaire will be compiled into a report that will be available by the beginning of Coordinating Committee Weekend which will begin Friday with supper and continue through Sunday lunch.  This will allow those participating in the weekend to begin with an understanding of the range of ideas.

The current NYYM structure is multi-faceted. Local meetings are organized into geographic regions called Quarterly, Half-Yearly or Regional Meetings. While some items for business at the yearly meeting level are seasoned through the regions, most yearly meeting business items are seasoned through one of the four coordinating committees (General Services, Ministry, Nurture and Witness.) Most yearly meeting committees are part of one of these coordinating committees. Among other functions, the coordinating committees provide financial accountability and seasoning for committee proposals. Most activity at the yearly meeting level is carried out by volunteers but a staff, mostly part time, supports that work.  For further detail see your local meeting’s copy of the annual yearbook or http://nyym.org/content/nyym-organization

All questions are optional. Please answer all questions for which you have something to share and don’t feel compelled to answer ones that you don’t. Your unusual idea might just be the one we all need.  Ideally, you would fill this out once but if you finish and then later have additional thoughts, feel free to submit again with just the new idea(s).
