All lottery numbers are entered into a random, computerized drawing system.

The first 75 students, based on lottery drawing, are admitted to CECHS.

Students who are not selected in the first 75 are placed on a waitlist in order of which their numbers were drawn in the lottery. Should one of the first 75 students decline their admissions, the next student on the waitlist will be notified and given the opportunity for admissions.

Lottery results will be posted on CMS District Website under CECHS’s school page: and sent out via REMIND.

Attending CECHS is a commitment to your education and to your future. Our goal is for all CECHS students to graduate from high school with a diploma of excellence and two years of college credit that can be applied to an Associate’s Degree and/or 4-year college degree plan of study. Each semester at CECHS you will earn grades that are to be recorded on both your high school and college transcripts. Therefore, it is essential that you maintain excellent grades throughout your attendance at CECHS. In partnership with you and your parents/guardians, we will do everything possible to make sure that happens.

Please review the following CECHS academic requirements. By signing below, you and your parents/guardians indicate that you understand and agree to meet these expectations.

CECHS Academic and Attendance Requirements:

Students must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.

If a course is failed, a student must, in collaboration with the principal and school counselor, make arrangements to repeat the course, which may be at a cost to the parent/guardian.

If the student does not maintain a 2.5 GPA, he/she will be placed on academic probation and required to complete an Academic Improvement Plan which may require mandatory tutoring placement. This plan will be reviewed after one academic semester to determine progress.

Students may not graduate early from CECHS and will complete the full 4 years (8 semesters) of course requirements with their original cohort.

Students must maintain compliance with the Carlsbad Municipal Schools and State of NM PED’s Compulsory School Attendance Policy. Students not in compliance with the 90% attendance policy as outlined by the State of NM will be placed on an attendance contract.

The attendance contract will be reviewed after one academic semester to determine improvement. Should improvement not be demonstrated, the student will no longer be eligible for placement at CECHS.
