Sustainability Representatives' Program Application 2018-2019
Ready to make a difference? Join us to make positive changes for the WWU community and build leadership skills to create a more socially equitable and environmentally responsible future for all.

Who are Sustainability Reps?
A Sustainability Rep is a leader within their residence hall community who works as a liaison between the Office of Sustainability and their fellow residents to foster and promote a more sustainable living. Sustainability Reps attend peer-to-peer sustainability education trainings to broaden their knowledge of campus operations, initiatives and student groups. Throughout the year Sustainability Reps host educational workshops and programs to teach residents how they can contribute to sustainability efforts. It is our hope that students will take the knowledge and resources they acquire from this program and continue to implement those practices at Western and beyond.

Program Basics-
Sustainability Reps have the opportunity to earn one 499C upper-division credit out of the Environmental Studies Department every quarter for their work.

Sustainability Reps host events in their hall to encourage sustainability through education, outreach, and community involvement.

Check out our Facebook page & Website:

Sustainability Representatives are chosen on a rolling basis and assessed for genuine interest in sustainability and commitment to the program.

Join us at HELPs!
You're invited to attend Western HELPs! When residential buildings open for fall quarter, a kind crew of 300 students facilitate the arrival of over 4,000 campus residents.

This year, Sustainability Reps will join in to assist in waste sorting while greeting students and families. Sustainability Reps will work together and participate in break-out sessions with SRep Staff to learn more about WWU sustainability during HELPs, September 20-23.

Room and board is included. You must register for HELPs to attend as a Sustainability Rep. Registration can be found in the link below and is open through Sept. 5th. The HELPs application will not ask if you're attending as a Sustainability Rep, SRep Staff will inform University Residences of your position once confirmed.

Learn more here:

Sustainability Reps are not required to attend, but attendance is suggested as you'll meet your community residence director, residence advisors, peers, other Sustainability Reps and SRep Staff. It's FUN!
