Beneficiary Application for Microbreweries for the Environment (MBE) 2016

"Microbreweries for the Environment” is an annual benefit concert that was started in 1993 by student volunteers at the University of Colorado Environmental Center. In 2016 the Boulder Theatre is the premier producer, with support of veteran volunteers. The event is possible because of the MBE committee donating time and our-- incredibly appreciated-- brewers donating kegs of beer.

The committee of active local environmental leaders consisting of event alumni, CU students, and professionals, select two and up to four most deserving environmental groups to benefit from the event in addition to the CU Environmental Center. These selected groups will receive equal shares of the event proceeds. A sell-out event would bring in $2000 for each of the participating groups. Applicants must be Colorado non-profit organizations for which the event’s proceeds will make a significant contribution to an environmental initiative. Past beneficiaries may apply.

This year’s event (the 24th annual!) is scheduled for the night of Friday, April 22nd at the Boulder Theater. Colorado favorites The Magic Beans will be the headliner musical act and a supporting act is being negotiated.

TO APPLY, ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY Thursday, February 4th at 5pm.

EVENT BENEFICIARIES MUST BE ABLE TO COMMIT TO THE FOLLOWING:

1. Designate one person to serve as the event liaison. Liaison must plan to meet with event coordinator(s) for tickets, help recruit volunteers if needed, manage group's ticket allocation to volunteers, and help market event to organization's constituencies. This responsibility is relatively minimal compared to most events. The event logistics and heavy-lifting are done by Environmental Center volunteers.

3. The organization will help promote the event (on your website, newsletter, and/or social media) and sell discounted tickets to members, friends, neighbors, etc.

4. Be thrilled about participating in an awesome and fun community event! Organizations share tabling space at the event. Plan to bring minimal tabling material as well as 1-2 volunteers/ staff to engage community 8pm-11'ish. Details will be communicated after selection process.

Applicants will be selected and notified by February 7th. Questions? Email thinkglobaldrinklocal@gmail.com
