Registration for "Care Not Cages: Harm Reduction, Decriminalizing Survival & Liberating SF"
Register now for No New SF Jail Coalition's fourth Abolition in Action Event: THURSDAY, Aug 27, 5:30-7:30 pm.
AiA #4 will center around Harm Reduction, Decriminalization and Abolition in San Francisco. San Franciscans and service providers are currently asking through the budgeting process for a reinvestment in services that keep our communities safe. We know that if we stop the investment in policing, cages and surveillance and instead properly fund life affirming resources and programs we can have strong and healthy communities!
The process of criminalization is a central part of the prison industrial complex (PIC); one of the tools that police and courts use to target both specific actions and groups of people.
Decriminalization is a core part of abolition.
Harm Reduction is one tool we can use in problem solving, addressing harm or potential harm and cultivating community accountability so that we do not rely on policing, jailing, criminalization or punishment.
Harm reduction is an alternative to criminalization. By strengthening care & reducing harm in our communities, we can build more people power for large-scale abolition & collective liberation
Abolition in Action #4 will feature a panel of system impacted community members and services providers along with a mini-training from the DOPE Project all to held over Zoom.
We are providing Closed Captioning, with Live Captioning by request. All of our resource and presentation materials will be translated into English and Spanish. If requested, we hope to be able to provide live Spanish translation and ASL interpretation as well.
