Before accepting someone into sanctuary, my congregation would need to know the following:
Does the person have any remaining legal options?
Does the person have any arrest convictions? And if so, what is the nature of teh offense and it's date and disposition?
What type of advocacy support is in place for the person?
What type of support can our congregation expect during the duration of the sanctuary?
OTHER RESOURCES: Even if you are not providing sanctuary, can your congregation help an immigrant in sanctuary elsewhere?
We can supply food for the immigrant and their family.
We can raise funds to support the immigrant and their family.
ACCOMPANIMENT: Can your congregation can to partnering with at least one immigrant, to accompany them to all hearings and court dates?
