Purpose:
The Neutral Zone and Corner Health Center are looking for young people ages 13-19 to help research, develop and propose a youth commission for Washtenaw County. A youth commission is a body of governance that is responsible for advising on matters that relate to young people. Youth chosen to help develop a youth commission will meet at the Neutral Zone in Ann Arbor over 8 sessions from September through May to accomplish the following goals:

To meet with key stakeholders to understand the needs and potential roles for youth in county government.

To understand best practices of other communities to support youth in government.
●
To create a proposal for Washtenaw County to engage youth in county government.
Youth must be high school age and a resident of Washtenaw County to apply. Youth will be awarded $200 ($25 for each session) for their participation and will be provided transportation to and from the Neutral Zone if needed.
