This is a fast paced, backcountry focused first aid course that centers on pertinent life saving skills and
common backcountry problems. This course is designed for people entering into remote environments but
not usually more than 8 hours from EMS support. It is suited for people of all backgrounds, abilities, and
requires no previous medical experience. It is our most popular course!
In this course folx will have an introduction to the Patient Assessment System, learn how to treat life
threatening conditions, and gather pertinent information from your patient. This class contains practice
building experience as a responder to typical outdoor injuries including but not limited to major bleeding,
respiratory emergencies, environmental hazards, splinting, and life threatening medical emergencies.
This is a hands-on class full of scenarios, so come prepared to be outside and engage with the material.
You will have fun learning and preparing for future adventures!
This course will follow policies and scope of practice guidelines established by the Wilderness Medical
Society. The CPR certification is provided by the nationally registered Heart Safety Institute and is OSHA
approved. There are no prerequisites and anyone over the age of 12 is welcome to join!
Prerequisites: Psyched on the outdoors!
Equipment: Something to take notes on (phone, pen & paper)
Fees: To increase access to the community, clinic costs are on a sliding scale. If you can afford the the full cost, please do so. The funds are to cover the cost Queer Crush pays the instructor. Queer Crush does not profit
Accessibility: Please note this clinic will take place on the ground on rocky and grassy terrain, but relatively level. There may be no restroom.
RSVP: First come first serve. If the clinic is full, you will be added to the waiting list. If there is someone to take your place (arranged by you, or someone on our waiting list), that works! Additional information will be emailed to you after your RSVP.
Refund Policy: We ask that you give us notice at least 3 days before the clinic for a full refund. No refunds will be given for those who cancel within 48 hours of the course start time
