Sign up to learn more - Free Grade 5 Resource on Electoral Reform

A Fair Vote? Rights, Responsibilities, and Decision-Making in a Democracy is an exciting new resource for Grade 5 Social Studies teachers, which was developed by Elementary Teachers of Toronto and Fair Vote Canada.

This resource supports Strand B of the Social Studies curriculum on the Role of Government and Responsible Citizenship. The curriculum resource invites students to consider alternatives to our First-Past-the-Post voting system. It consists of three lessons with accompanying slideshows, and concludes with students holding a mock Citizens' Assembly to determine what changes could be made to our voting system.

We are teachers working with members of the non-partisan group Fair Vote Canada to introduce teachers and students to ideas of Democracy and Proportional Representation.

Please submit this form to get a copy of the resource, and to receive details about our upcoming free half-day virtual training session (to be held in October).
