2019 Wagga RSL Club Netball Officiating Scholarship Program
A program designed to assist Netball Umpires who wish to officiate at a higher level
Ages
NOTE: For Athletes born between 1999 and 2005 inclusive (Athletes outside this range may apply for special consideration)
Trial Date/s
There will be 2 days of trials at the Junee Recreation Centre, Junee

Phase 1 - Saturday 6th October, 11.30am – 4.00pm

Those selected will attend Phase 2 Trials on Sunday 7th October, time TBC

NOTE: Applicants are required to have completed their Level 1 course and Section 1 exam (>80%). Please send a copy along with your nomination form.

Netball Officiating Scholarship Holders will attend selected Netball Squad training sessions and camps, be exposed to workshops with the range of Academy sporting consultants and attend selected competitions during the year.

Exemptions
NOTE: If an athlete is unable to attend the trial, they should lodge this nomination with a letter clearly outlining reasons an exemption should be granted for inability to attend. The application will be considered prior to the trial and the athlete will be notified if their exemption has been approved.
Eligible Areas for Athletes
Athletes residing in the following councils are eligible to trial with the Southern Sports Academy:
Albury, Bland, Balranald, Berrigan, Carrathool, Coolamon, Cootamundra-Gundagai, Edward River, Federation, Greater Hume, Griffith, Hay, Hilltops, Junee, Leeton, Lockhart, Murray River, Murrumbidgee, Narrandera, Snowy Valleys, Temora, Wagga Wagga, Wentworth
Program Outcomes
Southern Sports Academy (SSA) umpires receive the highest quality coaching available within the Southern NSW pathways network. In addition to the quality coaching, athletes benefit from access to the Southern Sports Academy consultants covering a range of sport specific physical, wellbeing and personal development fields aimed at contributing to improved performance both on and off the court.
The program provides umpires with a Netball NSW recognised and endorsed development program, as well as the opportunity to officiate in competitions provided for the playing programs within the statewide Regional Academy of Sport (RASi) network.

• Minimum 10 training sessions in conjunction with playing squad

• Online and face-to-face education relating to personal development

Athlete Commitments
• Attend ALL scheduled activities
• Maintain constant communication with the Southern Sports Academy (TeamAPP)
• The Netball Officiating program needs to be prioritised as a principal commitment in the 12 month period
• Abide by the Southern Sports Academy Code of Conduct, anti-doping and social media policies
• Wear academy apparel at all Academy training, competition, events/functions
• Make yourself available (within reason) to sponsors and the media for promotional purposes
Selection Criteria
Up to three scholarships will be offered for the 2019 scholarship period.

Applicants are required to have completed their Level 1 course and Section 1 exam (>80%). Please send a copy along with your nomination form

Scholarship holders will participate in the range of workshops provided to the Netball Squad as well as receive a conditioning program from the Academy Coaching Staff.

A levy of $250 will apply for all scholarship holders.
