Parent/Guardian Support Form
Your student has applied to be a part of the OCHS AVID program. Students are most successful in the AVID program when they have support from the adults in their lives. AVID, Achievement via Individual Determination, is a three-year middle school and four-year high school elective class. This course is designed to prepare students for the rigors of college prep classes by providing study and organizational skills as well as tutorial help from AVID trained college students and adult mentors.

Although it is not required students meet all criteria, the profile of a typical incoming AVID student is:

  • 2.5-3.5 GPA

  • first student in family to attend college

  • highly motivated to pursue a post-secondary school & education
